Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown played a total of 1 game this past season but his run within the past year has pulled more yardage amongst the headlines. 2019 saw the receiver do everything from calling his GM at the time, a “cracker”, to throwing a bag of dicks on his children’s mother around police in front of his Florida home. Safe to say, Brown was wildin throughout the year, but seems to be settling down in recent years. The controversial wide receiver has been going on a press tour as of late, which could be a move to soothe a comeback to the NFL. One of his higher profile stops was on the Breakfast Club, in which he touched on most of the subjects surrounding him. Here are some of things he touched on:
Playing in the NFL again
“I just wanna be on a team that protect my well-being. Being around guys that wanna work hard and wanna win.”
It will
“For me it was just cleaning out the circle that I been around. Having the right people around me and being able to communicate with people that really don’t won’t nothing from me and support my well-being.”
The video of him fighting with his children’s mother
“Obviously, you want to be a good example for your kids and I don’t feel good in no way to act in that manner in front of them…We fight like that but we gotta do better for our kids independently and togetherly.”
His beef with Ben Roethlisberger
“A lot of things he might have did wrong but I can’t make excuses of what I did. I think I could’ve handled myself better but at the time, out of emotion, I just did what I thought was right.”
His online feud with JuJu Smith-Schuster
“We reached out and just hashed it on a positive note.”
There were a few more gems within this interview as well. Brown explained the reason he lost his counsel to fight the sexual assault case, was because no proceedings were happening. He also referred to Raiders head coach Jon Gruden as one of his biggest supporters.
Listening to this interview, this is not the same Brown that has plagued headlines with his antics. This guy sounds much more reasonable, and most importantly, willing to get the help for his mental health, as social media onlookers have suggested. More importantly, he has shown some accountability for some of the things he has done, particularly, the incident with his child’s mother. There’s still the sexual assault cases he has been accused of, and still facing some type of discipline by the league, depending on the outcome of those cases. However, it doesn’t appear that he lost any major steps. Lots of positive reviews came out of his tryouts with the New Orleans Saints, regarding his performance. In addition to that, this past season, may have been an off year for him to rest his body, which probably gives him a boost coming into the season. AB’s plan to get back in the league, before even a tryout it seems, involves getting a life coach and winning a coach and GM over, respectively. This press tour that he’s currently on is likely to help his case as well, if he demonstrates this same level of tameness with the different platforms. A lot of teams will probably be on board with an AB who sounds he sat down on Iyanla Fix My Life as opposed to being a guest on Queen Radio. You can check out the full interview and decide for yourself how far you think AB come along:
